im thinking of poaching a electronic fuel pump from a car at the wreckers, ive heard geminis and pulsars (around 1984) have them, but if anyone who has a good idea about this sort of thing could suggest a car likely to be in a wreckers which has a particularly good one for some reason that would be great. also am i likely to encounter problems when installing it and does the actual placement of the fuel pump in the engine bay have any effect on anything that i should be aware of. any help greatly appreciated cause im too tight arse to pay over a couple of hundred for a brand new one.

I don't know about down there but over here, and in the UK I believe, Purolator makes a fuel pump that is really inexpensive. They used to be made by, or at least called Facet. I won't quote price because a) I don't remember and 2) I'm no good at exchange rates. If I wasn't so thick, I'd post the pictures of one installed on Gil. (John, that's a hint.) By the way, with an electric you will want to install it near the tank. They push better than the suck and will burn out very quickly if asked to pull fuel to the engine bay.

Thanks John.
I'm not sure if the location is all that obvious. It is outboard of the frame rail where the fuel filler pipe goes into the tank. The spring shackle is visible right near that large rubber filler hose. There is a nice splash guard right in front of it behind the right rear tire. I hope this helps.

That looks exactly like the pump I used for my A14 ... brings back memories! It worked very well up front near the engine; never had any problems. The most power I had was when using a Weber/Ford carb (6,000 rpm engine), so it wasn't needing a lot of flow.

It is a lot better than the stock pump. I had two go out on me, and finally I said "never again". Plus I could use it pump gas into a gas can if needed

I used the little rubber grommets to mount it on the firewall otherwise the thumping noise it made would carry into the car.

Well, as tensandtwenties is fond of saying, "empirical data outweighs anecdotal data." If you have used those pumps at the front of the car with success, then I stand corrected. I've always put them near the tank because that is what "they" said to do. Oh yeah, those things do make quite a bit of noise if mounted directly to the chassis without isolators. It doesn't bother me and it has the added bonus of letting me know when I'm about to be on foot. They get even louder when you run the tank dry. You need either a working fuel gauge or odometer, the Chickenhawk has neither. I had to hitchhike to class a few times because of it.

I have the same pump waiting to be installed. I ran the wiring, relay, and oil pressure switch cut-off. I'm waiting to work out some bugs before I install the electric pump. For now im using a new B210(A13,14,15) pump with the A12 lever. It seems to push about 4psi.
