Allright this is deffinatly the last time I ask about 5 speeds.
This ones for you guys that have already put your G/B's in . They relate to the standard 5speed shit pattern box

On the Side of the box there are two electrical connections I assume one is a reverse light switch, but whats the other fow it looks exactly the same just positioned a little lower on the case.

Does anyone have an Idea of the price for a bearing kit for these things?
Got quoted $600 for someone to go through the box and put new bearings in - though it was a bit too much.

H145 and H150 Diffs - what models are those two out of?
And how different is the H165?

Cheers guys - Your info as been invaluable to the little 1000! rebuild

The one for reverse is the farthest back. The other is probably a 'top gear' switch. When you're in high gear, the switch allows the vacuum advance on you distributor to work. It is part of the emission system.
I think i paid about $500 to have the samething done to my transmission. Its a lot of money, but all of my transmission failures are from bearings going bad.

As for the switches, I've found that the oil drain plug for an air cooled VW engine plugs those holes rather nicely. Gil is done up that way and has had no problems whatsoever.
An H-145 has a 145mm ring gear, an H-150 has a 150mm ring gear and so on. As for the housings, I'm sure they get bigger as the ring gear gets bigger. I think the problem is going to lie in finding an axle that is narrow enough for a 1200 in the larger ring gear sizes. Did that make any sense? Nissan Motorsports had an axle housing to convert B-210 coupes (120Y?) and B-310s (US 210s) to an H-165B carrier. My catalog is old so I don't know if it still exists. The part not my catalog. The part number listed is 43010-G1051 for the 120Y and 43010-W6250 for the B-310. The W6250 p/n is a stock part from another vehicle but I'm not sure what. Hope it helps and happy hunting!

the 1200 and B210/120y axle housings are close enough in size that they will interchange. here in the U.S. the B210 came with the H150 diff., it is slightly stronger than the H145 in the 1200. both use the same axle shafts, wheel bearings, diff. bearings, etc. The 210 (B310) will not bolt in due to they use coil spring suspension but all the internals will interchange.
the H165 diff is from what I understand (quoting Datsun comp.) was used in the Ute and some of the wagons, unfortunatly for those of us here in the states it was never used. those down under should have bunches to pick from.
the way to determine a given diff is to measure the inside diameter of the ring gear.
