Well I finally got the remote oil filter kit out of the box and made a start.

I also finished off the supply (high pressure) side of the fuel pump cradle. I am unsure weather I will bother with doing a bulkhead fitting on the return side as it will be at a lower pressure but I will have a look in my bag of goodies and if I got one lying around I will just do it.

Well I finally mocked up and made the oil cooler bracket.
First pic is the proposed spot on the chassis rail. It was kinda the only spot it would fit with room to run the hoses.
Second pic was a dummy fit.
Third is fitted showing the gap between the throttle body and the cooler.
Fourth pic is the finished frame minus paint.
Finally the fifth is fitted showing the gap between the alternator and the cooler. I leaned the cooler towards the inner guard as to give me room to run the lower radiator hose also to give be a little room to run a 5in thermo fan, which funnly enough are quite hard to find locally.

nice build bundy.keep it up.

are u planning on making metal plates to direct air to cool the cooler? otherwise i would advice you to locate the oil cooler somewhere it can get plenty of air towards it.

I am kinda struggeling for room so it was more for fit than for function. I am planning on using some alloy brake cooling ducting to vent some air onto the cooler as well as fitting a pair of 5in thermos to it. I agree its not in the best spot for air flow but other than running meters of hose to the rear and putting it under the tray I am kinda stuck. Although running metres of hose to the rear would have increased my oil capacity somewhat more than the engine bay mount.

do you have a full view pic of the vehicles' front? might get some ideas from other forum members on where to mount it.
some people mount them under the front bumpers or behind the front aprons.Might be a way of mounting it somewhere near or at the front discretely..
Your idea of directing the air could also work if impossible to get another mounting location.

The 2 I have on file are below. Due to the thickness of the oil cooler I cant fit it between the radiator and the intercooler, behind the radiator I think is pointless as that air is getting hot from cooling the Rad and the intercooler. In front of the cooler is an already slightly releived/hacked up grill so I am reluctant to hack out any more. I dont want the oil cooler hanging low and exposed as the ute will be a daily driver.

Just wondering if you are going to prime you engine somehow to get that oil to hit the bearings quicker as having an external oil setup takes a while to fill up for first start up.
