Ooh, I like the Toyota supercharger idea! I might have to look into that.

try the charger from the 4agze(toyota twincam 1600), it is mall and will fit nice, got one at home, just make a nice inlet manifold to line up the pulleys and put a downdraught on top

indeed! do tell!
I was thinking about doing something similar to my sedan. I was gonna supercharge my A14, with about 10psi supercharger, maybe less.
Lemme know what sorta superchargers your looking at, and do ya reckon you could fit one under the bonnet without any mods? I mean, i'm abouts to put a scoop on anyways....coz the bloody weber i'm putting on is gonna go kachink with the bonnet if i dont.

What engine are you supercharging? What blower are you using? Please, tell us more!

the ute diff is much stronger than the sedan/wagon or coupe diffs! i had a sedan with a mild A14 h/d clutch and a 4 speed and i went through 8 diffs including 1200 sedan/wagon/coupe/sunny/120y! welded and not! and a mate of mine had an A15 ute and neva had a problem, at the moment im almost finished doing my supercharged 1200 sedan in which ill be using staza front struts and welded ute diff and rear drums! [ Edited by DATTO_BOY on 2002/5/1 0:31:48 ]

I think you can use the rear disks off a series 2 TRX, and they just bolt onto the ute diff... Having rear disks on a light car can be dangerous however, i'd never do it to my ute - I'd end up with the ass end trying to overtake me. too much stuffing around with proportioning valves.
cheers, Linc.

I broke the stock sedan diff, chipped off some of the teeth in the ring & pinion . It was with a stock A15 and four speed. It wasn't from abuse, I drove it fairly easy. I reckoned it was the extra torque of the fifteen along with the steep first gear of the four speed. I changed the diff and after a short time this second one broke. That's when I put in a 5-speed and A14. The stock diff lived under that combo quite well even under hard use.

I do at times fall prey to the bigger is better mentality, I guess. My reasons for putting in a bigger diff are; A) I want rear disc brakes; B) I do plan to drag race the car with an engine that has at least double the factory horsepower and double the factory torque. I do not want to find out the hard way that the 1200 diff is weak. Quote: dimlight65 wrote: To be perfectly honest, the reasons I changed to a B-210 rear axle were, 1) I had one and b) slightly bigger drum brakes. That diff survived with (poorly) welded spider gears for years behind my Z-20 engine. I've never had a diff break, or even know of anyone who has. I think there is a lot of "bigger is better" mentality out there which is really unfounded. Oh yeah, I just remembered, I swapped a 200SX axle into the Chickenhawk recently. Once again, it had disc brakes and I had it on hand.

The only 1200 diff breakages I've heard of was when my brother and I were learning to drive. We learnt in the family 1200 wagon. My brother used to do all kind of evil things to that poor car. One day the diff let go, but my Mum was the only one in the car. I suspect my brothers shopping car-park 'heli's' fractured one of the gear teeth, and my Mum was the unlucky person to be driving when it finally let go. We jokingly blamed Mum for the broken diff, but we knew that my brother's to blame. The Ute diff is significantly larger. I've got a photo with the two sorts of them sitting next to each other. The 210 diff had a cover on the back, whereas the 1200 diffs I know both had pressed/welded back plates that weren't removeable. It's funny, but Datsun owners are very resourceful.
Cheers, Chris
