Hi guys, Just a quick update on my Datsun.
I did not end up using the engine you see in the pictures I ended up rebuilding my original engine which was in better condition. I done a compression test about 2 weeks before I pulled the Datsun off the road and the comp tested really good 150-160 psi. When I begun to pull the engine down the first thing I noticed was my rings were completely shattered the car had been driving fine though. I brought the majority of upgrades from a forum member Pete MYB110 And I also brought a rebuild kit from Bige from this forum. Here is a list of what I done to the original 1200. A14 oval port head, double valve springs, New bottom end, High lift street cam, Over size Flat top pistons had some fly cuts machined to run with larger cam, Block was cleaned Shaved and bored out to run larger pistons, Electronic ignition, Extractors 2.5 inch exhaust, Hi tech extractors, excedy clutch, Webber 32/36 carby. I think that's about it. I have to say I would not of been able to do this without Pete's help Firstly Pete is a wealth of knowledge and has some crazy Datsun engines that he has built himself so I knew I was in good hands. Pete ended up building my engine for me and helped install it today. I had a bit of a issue with the machinist when he machined my pistons and he made a couple of mistakes Bige went out of his way and helped me out with two more pistons. Bige's customer service was amazing and I will have no problems recommending his services. Anyways The engine started up straight away and it sounds AMAZING with that cam it sounds just like a rotary and runs really smooth but really lumpy on low revs :) So I just wanted to say a big thanks to these two guys for all their help that they have given me. I will post some pics up tomorrow.

the boost is determined by the size ratio of the 2 pulleys or more acuratey the rpm of the supercharger
it doesn't matter what stock boost is as it is irrelevant with a different sized engine pulley. you should be able to find a boost vs. rpm chart on the web for the sc12, this will tell you what rpm the charger needs to be at to give the boost you want, then you calculate the correct pulley size from the rpm of the engine and the size of the engine pulley (i can assist with calcs if you find a chart and measure the a-series pulley diameter) i would suggest aiming for low boost - even 3-4psi makes big power gains, once you get used to that and sort out the tuning then up the boost the tune is what will kill most boosted motors best to lock up the mechanical advance in the dizzy by removing the top section and welding the lower mechanism - this limits advance at high rpm and therefore less chance of detonation boost gauge can be installed anywhere after the supercharger you can not have blow off valve or intercooler you could probably start by drilling your secondary jet out to 150

You can run a clutched pulley if you want the option of turning the boost on or off. Carby should run okay for tests but would most likely need a slight upgrade in jetting. But you might be surprised.
Perhaps do the rest of the setup first then worry about the jetting.

I'd only go 6psi that will be heaps, I ran my boost gauge from the manifold

Your right.boost controller won't do a thing. Also you can hook up boost gauge IM not sure which vacuum line you need to join it up to though. Sorry can't be more help.
what size pulley on sc now? And what psi does it pump out stock? Think they are 6 it 7 psi yeah? Should be ok on s13 from my understanding

Hi guys I was wondering if anyone might be able to help me out with a few questions I have with me SC setup.
1) I gather I cannot run a boost controller and that the size of the pulley wheel will determine what Psi I will be running. So on a A14 with no intercooler / pipeing, can someone tell me what size wheel I should start with if I was aiming for 10 Psi? 2) With my webber carby can someone tell me what size jets I should look at running to go with the SC. 3) Can I still run a boost gauge and what would be the best way to hook it up? Thanks Andy

The black rims look really good and stand out when you see them in person. Unfortunatly they look a bit ordinary in photo's.

sc12 is originally from a 1.6 ltr motor... so go nuts with an a14/15
why paint the new wheels black... now they look like the old wheels... can't see either set You can view topic.
