Roots is the least efficient type, invented in the 1860s. This is the famous drag racing "blower" like Mad Max. They were typically 55% efficient @ 15 lbs boost. They are very efficient at lower boost levels say 5 lbs boost

Centrifugal blowers like Paxton, Vortech, Powerdyne and Procharger are more efficient heat-wise and power-wise. 74% efficient at 15 psi. Takes less power to drive than a Roots blower. Less heat buildup. The outlaw classes used centrifugal @ 60 lbs boost

I don't know where you get your data from but here in Australia a doorslamer drag car running a roots blower at 50psi plus doing 5.9 1/4 mile

I don't think most drag racing in USA is 1/4 mile any more, most are only 1000 feet which shows up as quicker times.

Top Fuel (nitromethane) changed to 1000 ft to slow the cars down (they were doing 300+ mph). But in general the 1/4 mile is alive and well
