The main good thing about the stumpy is the length -- same as Datsun 1200.
The 71C is a stronger transmission, but it is the longest one.

It's the length -- same as Datsun 1200. So the shifter comes up in the right place (no cutting of the tunnel) and a stock tailshaft can be used.

Bails that box looks like the longer one. If its a 71c you have then put a ca bell on it. There stuff on ozdat about converting the stumps to ca friendly between 71b and 71c.
I picked up a navara d21 71c box. Ends up too much a hassle for me after setting the car up for the stumpy box. So swapping for a dog leg 63a box most likely.

Townie the pics show a 71c all C boxes have that sort of shift design
yet they all vary internally with even alloy sandwhich plates on the pintara ca20 while cast iron on the CA8de and T boxes. On a light datto either ones are pretty much stronger than abused boxes from 6 cylinder engines but you can be lucky with a low kms one. The maddat price is pretty good for a guaranteed box with no hassles but if you blow it up then you will be in strife finding a replacement while the long boxes are very common and attainable.

The exact reason I was going to use a full length one, the boxes themselves are cheap and very obtainable, The shifter was going to be set back a fair bit as poer the pics, I just fully got over ca18's tho, Way overdone.
