#1 Cost of installing maddat tunnel?
bailz Posted on: 2013/1/28 22:22
I have a maddat tunnel and took it down to a reputable car fabricator and rust repairer to get a quote to install the tunnel. Looks like its going to be around the $800 mark. I worked out it would take me at least 2 days of mucking around plus supplies etc. I thought it was a reasonable price?
Just seeing if anyone else has had a tunnel installed at a shop?
I know u can put it in yourself which costs less if you have loads of spare time... I am time poor :( and I already have the tunnel so getting a tunnel from another car is not optional and same cost at the end of the day.

Just do it yourself man Haha.
To keep engineers happy, make sure you have 20mm overlap around the whole thing when you weld/rivet it in.

Verneer calipers, grinder w/ cutting disk, metal file and a cheap welder (or drill and rivet gun)
I'm 16 and I could probably do it.

I have the welder and all the stuff to do it.... But I am happy to let the guys do the install for peace of mind from a qualified welder who does it everyday and the fact they have done work for my engineer before ;) engineer asks who did the welding? Me .... Engineer are you a welder? No.... Not signing that off!

Plus I am time poor and hence have spare $$$ to get someone to do it properly. I was just curious to see whether it was an reasonable quote for roll in roll out

Yes, professional welding is worth it. Shop around for a fair price.
