It`s making good power. Close to a good SR20(HP/lts). Just more work and heavier.
What class of racing is it going to be used for? The best NA engines are producing over 200Hp/lts. EDIT: The 200Hp/ltr motors are bike engines. Just thought i should clarify the statement.

Are we talking street car or track ?? In 1993 I bought a speedway motor ( 1.4 NA ) which was dynoed at 177hp and 126 bhp thats around 125hp / L . Same year Gordon Dobie (dick head) claimed 181hp and 132 bhp (1.2). There was a guy that claimed 300hp in WA about 1990 ( 1.3 twin turbo) in a bugeye sprite.... So 126 hp per litre for a 2.3 isnt that impressive

Nissan pulsar vzr n1 has a greater specific power per litre than Hondas almighty S2000
1596cc 150kw = 93.98 kw/l Limited production vehicle, impressive, and a NISSAN!

Thats what I thought, no dyno queen but for their first couple they have built there is more potential and shouldnt weigh more than 140kg going into a 1600 for clubsprints. Still makes more power than some boosted modern engines.
Can only imagine it in a datsun 1200 or caterham lotus 7.

KA24DE weighs 167 kgs. And the L-series block is practically identical.

why would I be 'not impressed'? I've always been a fan of the L series. there's nothing new about making power from the KA24DE head though. But unless you were going for an U2L build, I have NFI why you wouldn't just use the whole KA engine rather than messing around putting the head on the Lseries bottom end. My old mate who I shared my L powered 1200 coupe racecar with lis SWR Lseries donk, now has a 2.6 litre stroked KA24DE in his 1600 now making good power with more to come. And Ken Graham's 240+ rwbhp KA24DE Datto 1600 is the record holder for IPRA O2L at MtCotton. Its been making good power and going very fast for many years...

The reason given for using L-block with KA-head is given as "the KA crank and rods are not strong enough". I do not know if that is true or not.
To make 290 HP the engine will have to revved quite high (8350 RPM in this case).

nice, that sorta n/a power & revs would be bags of fun in a 1200 (on a racetrack)
