It`s making good power. Close to a good SR20(HP/lts). Just more work and heavier.
What class of racing is it going to be used for? The best NA engines are producing over 200Hp/lts. EDIT: The 200Hp/ltr motors are bike engines. Just thought i should clarify the statement.

The KA is nothing if not a 16-valve version of L-series, as the Z-series was a SOHC version.
The only problem with the KA is that (reportedly) the lower end is not strong enough for over 6000 RPM work. Hence the "hybrid" of using a strong L-series or Z-series bottom end. Now if this hybrid came with a 3-year, 30,000 mile warranty I would be impressed.

It must sound like I have an agenda against Honda engines :) sorry to sound that way.
I will ask the owner how much to build his 2ltr one without the cost of the billet crank which was done in order to utilise the shorter L18 block with extra flywheel bolts as it will be revved to 10,000rpm on a regular basis. The Ka24de head just needs the timing case mods which are by no means difficult as the K, L and Z series share alot of architecture similarities. The devils in the details when it comes to building a high revving L series twin cam hybrid to match say the F20C but with the cost of L20b block and Ka24de found at almost all good wreckers its hard to ignore the fact the cost is quite good. Using good rods, pistons, cam and springs the rest is there for a reliable hipo engine. Even stock the Ka24de makes 150-155hp that goes up a fair bit to 180+hp with the right pipes, ecu and inlet mods. All up weight will be still much less than the F20C. For power to weight this NA is a great effort. Still believe the Honda belongs in a Honda or locost. :) eg. as a passenger in this setup though http://archive.deathspraycustom.com/w ... s/2009/03/jccs2007001.jpg

And i always wonder what it would take for tuners and companies like nismo to start developing parts again for old school engines.
Reason why many performance NLA parts sell for heaps and its either u wait and buy or custom build ur own parts which also costs heaps.Hence alot of people don't venture into "building" NA engines.

very true d, better having a datsun/nissan engine in the bay.
But the honda f20c drivetrain would def be cheaper and more reliable as its stock if u ignore the weight aspects.240ps and 9000rpm stock without any mods.My guess is that this hybrid beast of an engine would cost heaps to build right. But then again if you can do engine work urself might save on building such engines. anyway this isnt about comparing the two engines but to highlight how impressive the hybrid hp per liter is. any links to the specs of that particular motor or build of it? cheers

Its definitely got no lag by the looks of it, for an NA its definitely something different and avoids having a Honda in the engine bay

Definately impressive!!
alot of people usually don't realize how much effort and cost goes into extracting such hp levels from naturally aspirated engines. Just a comparo to show what a feat this is; The F20C produces the highest specific power output for any naturally aspirated 2.0L piston engine in a car priced under US$100,000 at 123.5 hp (92.1 kW) per liter. It held the record for producing the highest specific power output for any mass production naturally aspirated piston engine until Ferrari released the 458 Italia in 2010, which produces 124.5 HP/L.(its a 4.5L v8) So this 126hp per liter hybrid is nothing to scoff at and quite a feat for an old school NA engine to accomplish.

Sikynes A12 makes 137 HP/liter with stock block so the KA-L hybrid is not so impressive ...
