Got a fully counter weighted L18 crank with rods & 86 mm pistons down here if you're interested. Would really be good inside an L16 engine. No replacement for displacement. . I really love the way it looks with the Hotwires, now you just need to load up for the traffic light wars. Is it the H145 or H150 diff under there. Might need to find another BW diff.

Thanks guys. I prefer the coupes. The 2dr sedan only happened because it happened to pop up at the time. I was looking for a coupe.

More old parts coming back. A mate bough these off me a year or so ago and never used them. I think these on an L16 would be pretty cool in the Y. Sort of 160Z style - under the bonnet anyway...

Realised last night this was why I bought new KYB shocks for it 3yrs ago. They're 70mm shorter than the Monroe shocks in it, which I suspect are sedan shocks. So I now have heaps of suspension travel. Might just need to trim the bump stops down to suit, or drill them to make them softer.

Better photo

Fitted the King springs to lower the front. Also did the same castor mod as the 2dr sedan - moved the castor boxes forward 20mm by drilling 4 new holes and cut 20mm off the front. It drove so much better on the wide rubber with the extra castor, I had to do it to this one as well.
Lipped the front guards and trimmed the front lower corner of the wheelarch to clear the bigger, wider tyre with the extra castor pulling it forward.
Flipped a rear leaf to lower the back about 3". I'll need to trim the bump stops and extend the lower shock mount to get some travel back, but I'm happy with that ride height. The front will come down another 30mm with a pair of 1200 strut tops.

Sounds like a stock A series motor to be honest. But I haven't even had it anywhere near full throttle - just been cruising around slowly with a silly grin on my face lol So honestly, it doesn't really need to be anything fast. I've got the Soarer for when I want to go fast - like last Sunday...

how does that manifold setup sound Harry any different?
If a t50 box setup landed on your lap could you ever be
satisfied with a turbo A or prefer revvy or boosted L?

yeah, it's always good to carry a spare spark plug! lol

I'm feeling less bad about the idea of modifying it. The paint has already been changed from the original blue/green colour to a more solid blue, so it's not like it's a true 100% original survivor or anything. Wheels, brakes and front springs will probably go on this weekend and I'll start gathering other parts as they come up cheap.
