unfamilias bike speedo crazyness diy
Guest_
ok people think this is hard but hey, these things are calibrated to 200-300kmh for some stupid reason.

first off buy the gauge. first one i got was $30 on sale a cat eye one that was back lit. nice at night. been through a few on my 3 datsuns over the years but take 8 years to get one in this car. $6 at k mart.... scanned up at $2 go figure!

any way cut the wires for more length and select a spot in the cabin youd like to mount it so you can see it.
cut wires to splice in so that they reach gauge and the sender. i just twist tied these and heat shrink wrapped over the top. works a treat on this thin gauge stuff.

next measure distance between the strut and the rim edge. attach the sender to the strut with the self adhesive tape. i always cable tie them too.

attach magnet to the wheel rim. i locate mine next to the wheel weight for balancing reasons. i never got wobbles from them ever. i but a dab of silicon or superglue to attach it to the rim, then cover it with silicon to hold it on.

i only ever lost one magnet cause i didnt do the next step, cover the wheel weight and the magnet with a bead of smearedon silicon. dont go too thick as it can affect the sender reading the magnet.

heres how it looks installed. back light ones are good for night. dont get wireless as the car electrics tend to affect the signal readings.

you need to measure the circumerence of your tyre and enter it into the bike computer. but these things are really accurate. i love them. this one even reads temperature!!!!
