no idea if they're ADR approved. The welded diff isn't exactly ADR approved either ;)

I think there's a new exhaust on it as well, and he's currently making a new turbo manifold to replace the ugly manifold me and Nev whacked together.

Will be interesting to see the results vs yours, not on overall hp but the curve in the usable rpm range.

Log style manis seem to hold their own up until 5k rpm

1st round of the hillclimb series was last weekend. Brendan knocked another 7 tenths off his PB I think with a 50.4, and half a second faster than I went :) Good stuff! Nice to see it improving. I'm really liking watching it go around too

is that with the new manifold setup or your old log setup?

still my old ugly manifold. He's working on the nice one in his spare time. Will probably be a while before that gets finished. Suggested to him that a cam upgrade might be the best next step - quick easy and cheap. L series respond really well to cams in NA form, so a mild grind, if he can't find a turbo specific grind, should wake it up a bit.

Clutch is just starting to slip a bit on hard shifts to 3rd gear now apparently. It's still a stock Bluebird clutch so it's done OK I reckon. Clued him in on the Sports 2000 upgrade for more clamping force while still being gentle on the driveline and factory street-ability.

The carby turbo L20 is still going strong and loving all the trashing around the track. Brendan changed the wheels (I liked mine better :P and might be buying them back off him) and he had some rear leaf springs professionally made up with reversed eyes. Seems to have gone backwards though in times and said he had less traction and more understeer now.

Last event he ran a 49, which is pretty damn good - that was my goal for the car and was great to see him get that out of the little Datto. This time he was back in 51s with the new springs. But it was very cold conditions too, which wouldn't have helped.

Brendan took it to the drags last night. Only had 3 runs because it was so busy, but ran 15.1, 14.8 and 14.5 with very gentle and slow launches to protect the 63A box, resulting in a pretty poor 2.2 60ft time. Rule of thumb is every tenth in the 60ft is worth 2 at the other end of the quarter, so a proper launch with a decent 1.8 60ft would have it well in the 13s!

No idea if facebook video link will work, but try this: https://www.facebook.com/brendan.merrick/videos/10208292194522610/

Damn Harry, I was hoping it was for sale, as I'd love to pick up a 120Y 2 door sedan to have a play with. If any come to your attention, could you let me know. I'm driving an N14 Pulsar as my daily, & am very intrigued by the GA16DE engine. It seems pretty strong, & I would love to have a play. As I've raced a 1000, a 1200 & a Sunny, I'd thought I'd try a Y & the 2 door is the lightest. I would use an L series 5 speed, as there's a bell housing to suit this box available, some injection from South Africa & other bits & pieces. It seems you can also get a GA16VE head set up. These cars seem to be in either Queensland or Victoria, so if you could just keep a eye out, it'd be much appreciated.
