Hi everyone! I just want to share my experience about fitting a single 40 DCOE Weber carb on a COMPLETELY STOCK A15 economy version(round port head). Baseline settings should be: Main Venturi 32; Aux. Venturi 4-5; Main Jet 140; Emulsion Tube F-11; Air Corrector Jet 200; Accel. Pump Jet 60; Accel.Pump Inlet Valve with Ex. Orifice closed; Needle Valve 200; Idle Jet 55F9. Ignition timing set to 10 degrees. In my case, this set up increased torque, throttle response and fuel economy when compared to the factory Hitachi carb. However, if you go WOT with this set up, fuel economy goes out of the window!(but feels and sounds AWESOME ) This set up works best with an air filter on. I used a double trumpet sock type filter from RAMAIR. If you do not use an air filter, then you should go down to 180 on the air correctors and 130 on the main jets. Hope this is helpful.

Nice work. That's very similar to what the Weber book recommends.

Yes, similar. As a matter of fact, I started with what the book said but it did not work very well on my engine, so after a few changes of jets, correctors, venturis, etc., etc. I finally got it just right for my engine. I posted it here just in case someone has this economy version engine and wants to run a 40 DCOE, won't have to go through the hassle of buying many parts and spend a lot of time working at it (as I did) to get it right. As you kindly pointed out, it is similar to what's in the book... however, it is not, and my setup works so much better! IT'S CALLED TUNING! And there is no book in the world that can tell you how to do it! It is a gift fom GOD and only a few chosen ones are worthy of having it!
