yeah keeping it very straight is important, i had mine done professorial but o watched it from start to finish, they sleeved it and made sure it had a V both tubes when butted up, for that strength, what type of diff your shorten?

Made sure it had a V ... what does that mean?

grind a 45 down on both tubes and that creates a V, even you D would understand that :)

It's a hilux diff.and yes of course I will chamfer it.only way to make it strong

Thanks. Got it, chamfer for a butt-weld.

* Shorten the axle tubes and weld them
* Get new custom-length axles ($800/pair)
* Drill the axles for the desired wheel bolt pattern
* new bearings for the new axles
* Cut and reweld (or add) spring plates

Datrotor you can go De Dion using Volvo 360 de dion tube and volvo shafts and 300zx brakes then run an R200 they are 7.8 inches and $100 then just worry about shortening cv or axles much easier in every way to source and better setup.
