#161 Re: Kermit the beat up Sedan

Bought myself a new timing light and am now REALLY confused.

The motor seems to run a bit rich but that's not the confusing bit - It seems to be timed at about 40 degrees BTDC with the timing light but when I manually line up the rotor button to point at the No.1 plug it's 5 degrees - the only thing I can think of is that someone has put a wrong pulley on the motor at some stage because there's only one mark and its on the front of the pulley (I thought there were supposed to be about 5 marks on the engine side of the pulley).

What's going on??? - Any advice?

Kermit Lives again.

I had all sorts of dramas trying to get it to start - rebuilt the old carby half a dozen times, checked everything - still would not run. It was getting fuel, spark and compression. Replaced fuel filter (again), coil and carby with NEW. flushed the fuel pump.

Ended up putting a capacitor from the negative lead on the coil and he fired up straight away - strange as it didn't have one before. Anyway it needs a proper tune but we're back on the road (well driveway).

Had a few dramas with kermit over the last couple of months that have all been the result of a rust ridden fuel tank I am almost ready to start him up. I got a good clean tank from one of the wrecks. Just need a new filter and we're back.

Side note I will be selling off the yella terra shell and going with an auto shell
