Kermit has done a lot of sitting in the workshop and contemplating life whilst other things get done (or not) around the house.
I did a couple of small things after the Datsun Day 1. Replaced the tie rod ends - didn't like it that the inners didn't have grease nipples (and couldn't get the bungs out to put some in) 2. Adjusted the front brakes up - too much travel on the pedal - still travel more than I like (How can I fix this?) I have a few more things to do before I am happy to take him off for a roadworthy 1. Re-upholstering the front seats - I thought seat covers were enough but the springs are saggy and the misses wants it done 2. Fuel gauge not working - probably just a wire off somewhere 3. Keeps jumping out of reverse and sometimes the shifter will go into reverse but the gear won't engage - dunno on this one - anyone got ideas short of replacing the gearbox? Anyway I'm a lot closer to RWC and club plates but not rushing anything.

First shake down this arvo down to the local BP on peninsula link. It's pulling to the left on brakes and getting up to the p on TEMP . Will need some work before the datsun day

Got to do a little work to tidy up on Kermit.
Indicators all work- check Lights all work - Check Set the timing to about 15 BTDC and set points to 18 thou - check adjusted choke and accelerator cables - check charged up battery - check made a clip to hold the heater control cable on the heater valve and it opens an closes - check Runs well - check check check woohoo Except there's a small leak in the heater valve...... I have had a search though the tech wiki and the heater that came with Kermit is marked NISSAN and SMITHS. That is why the heater cock valve is different. It must be a non JDM market thing. It also has screws holding the front on rather than the half moon spring clips like on the Ute (later versions).. the lever/control is not a loop but goes though a hole. Finally the electrics are on the right rather than the left. I have searched the internet and can't find the exact heater cock valve to replace it with and I have had it apart more than once and it is not sealing properly so I would rather find the right part than change it over to something else if possible. Here are some pictures of the heater for reference.... any ideas welcome

Is that what that Whooshing sound was....I thought it was my Blow Off Valve.
Anyway, credit where credit is due...Good work David now time for you to start on the Yellow Peril. I reckon I might have mine done before you finish that one ![]()

swapped wiper rods, got all lights and indicators working, Drove on to the driveway for a picture opportunity.
Oh ... indicator lenses are now installed. need to find a sympathetic club - don't want to waste $200 on a RWC just for club plates. Hey Andrew (CADET 1200) did you just hear a whooooshing sound? - that was me lapping you on project cars- Wanna hear that again ? last photo is proof that the engine is running - temp gauge works!

Some "progress" today
Bonnet all buffed and installed, but redoing the air cleaner lid because the paint bubble - looking for stickers Fixed the windscreen wiper motor not working problem .... it was one of the pins in the plug that goes to the switch was not in properly therefore not contacting. Also the dash has to come out - I figured out why I can't find the nuts that hold on the wiper arms - I don't have the nuts for Kermit - I have 3 sets of wiper rods and I used Ute ones not Sedan ones that came originally on Kermit. Kermit had the ones that don't have nuts at all! That's a job for tomorrow.

Have not fixed the absence of brightly glowing indicators but though I needed to provide a little sneak peak of what's done.
