8.5 inches = 216 mm, so a smidge over is consistent with the 219/220 mm disc rotor as used by late 120Y

outer bearing: NTN 4T-LM117?
* NTN 4T-LM11749
* Nissan 40215-21000
* Fits Datsun 510 & 1976-up 1200 and 120Y, and many others
* O.D. 1.570 inch (39.9 mm)

inner bearing: NTN 4T-L44649XL
* NTN 4T-L44649
* Nissan 40210-A0800
* Datsun 510,610, B210, B310, many cars worldwide
* O.D. 1.980 inch (50.3 mm)

Okay. Am I correct in the fact that the B210 USDM and 120Y Australian rotors are different?

The B210 rotors available online here in the USA are 240mm (9.44 inches)

And what about the calipers? Are the B210 USDM calipers different than the 120Y Australian calipers?

If so, this is going to be very difficult to get parts for here in the USA.

Starting to think that I would be better off getting some 1200 Coupe USDM struts second hand here in the USA and doing the mklotz 280zx/Sentra brake conversion.

USDM B210 uses PB210 large suspension including 232 mm rotors (early) and 245 mm rotors (late, same as Stanza/B310). The calipers are likewise larger. But you don't need new rotors as your rotors can be turned for $20 or so

Calipers for 120Y are readily available in USA as they are the same as B110, however the late rotors use a factory adapter plate to space the caliper out 4 mm. Or, B110 rotors bolt right to the 120Y hubs

Would you be better off going to larger, more modern brakes? Then you can keep the struts you have now and upgrade to B310/Stanza brakes or 280ZX brakes, or S13 Brakes. Remember, 120Y struts are same as B110 struts except for wheel bearing size. The hubs are same external size.

Personally, I would choose the Bluehands 280ZX Brake Upgrade -- much larger than S13 brakes, totally bolt-on, and fits under 13" alloy wheels.

Gotta love Datsun, so easy to work with, and so many upgrade choices!

Thanks mick. Do you have a build page for the silver bullet?

DD do you have photos of the 4mm spacer? I need to see if I have them.

The caliper seems too close to the rotor when I trial fit them.

I am going to clean and paint the calipers in case they are still good when i get to the point of plumbing the system sometime in the future. So i will need the 4mm spacer for this.

I decided to take a chance on my calipers. I won't know if they are functional or not until I plumb the brake lines and master cylinder and that is a long time away. I decided to wire wheel them to get all the old paint off. First I sprayed them with the Purple bottle degreaser you get at walmart (not the Purple Power one the other one) and it took the 40 year old grit off very easilly. Then I took a wire wheel and drill to the calipers. When they were down to bare metal I noticed a few markings here and there. I took photos of all the markings. Then I bought some VHT caliper paint and painted them blue. Its a nice color blue. In fact I think the ute used to be a very similar blue so in a way I am paying homage to the old ute. Wire wheeling sucks. I decided to buy a sandblaster - see next post

The wierd part was that the can said to bake the paint so I did in my home oven. Don't do it at home if you don't want to stink your house up.
