Policeman pulled me over tonight. He said the cannon muffler was illegal. When I said it also had a regular muffler underneath he said OK, but keep the speed down.

You bad boy... You need a spanking dd.

In Australia you could be defected for that and require your car to be sent to EPA for sound and or emissions testing. 89 db for most cars, pre 1986 is 96DB lol.

I think it is under 96 db. But I just replaced the manifold and did not have the air filters on it. When it hits 6000 RPM it snarls, and gets quite a bit louder. I will put the filters back on.

They test it here at 4500 rpm.

snarls ? do you mean on the backoff? - that's when the needle went way over on mine before the resonator was inserted

I don't know about guns. I haven't seen one in many years.

It snarls on full throttle at high RPM. Before backing off. Not sure why, it doesn't do that with the air filters on.

Can you upload a vid? I want to hear it now..... I do love the sound of throaty ITBs without silencing. The air cleaners keep some of the noise in. I bet if you put some hose inside the air cleaner and listened to the other end you'd hear the snarl.

Video is dark, but I'm revving it to about 6500. As it sweeps past 6 it makes the sound. It is more pronounced when actually driving the ute, in the video it is just sitting in the garage.

10 second audio

Is it that higher pitched squeaky sound you're talking about? (The snarl.) Other than that it sounds really nice. Sounds a bit like a funny bearing but not quite. Not sure what that could be.
