It is hard for those of us who have never built a 1200 from the ground up. Thanks for the links DD. From what i can see however the hardware size is listed on some diagrams but not the length or pitch etc...

For general nuts, bolts and screws, the hardware size is listed as well as the length. See NES.
For special part number hardware (e.g. head bolts), the specification are not part of the part number.

That's extremely useful DD but I can't get my head around the codes.
A fellow car club member suggested buying something like this: bolts are there only a handful of sizes and lengths used by Datsun or would you need to buy 10 or 20 or 30 different types?

What I would do.
1. put all your bolts into a box 2. start putting the ute back together 3. look through box for right bolt/s 4. if you don't have enough bolts for the application, take one out and go to bunnings and buy like 5 10 packs of that bolt. Remember, a lot of Datsun 1200 bolts are similar pitch etc etc. My 2c at least.

When you go to the wreckers take along a roll of masking tape. You can write on the tape and use it to mark where the bolt came from so that when you are ready to reassemble it there is no question of where to put it. Or better yet take along some ziplock baggies and do the same thing.

Sounds like the wreckers might be the easiest solution when you don't have the bolts/screws/nuts to put something on your Datsun.
Cheers guys. If all else fails I suppose the only way to get the hardware is to use DD's links posted earlier in the thread (no pun intended) and decipher the codes for each piece of hardware. Unless others have any further suggestions?

Since i have two utes at the moment, one complete and one not......one method i have used is to take a few bolts, nuts, screws, pins what have you of each type......take them all to the nut and bolt shop to match type, length, pitch and get the required quantities.
