Hey Guys,

I'm welding up my rusty floor in the 2 door and was just wondering if there is any advantage to removing the drain hole where the rubber grommet is? Now before everyone says its for drainage I dont see how well it would drain with the rubber grommet in it and with carpet etc over the top when would you be able to remove grommet and refit anyway?

I have rust around mine so I have cut out and welded a new plate in so just wondering if I should cut a hole back in like factory...

depends how often you may strip the inside out and clean it down i spose, makes it a hell of a lot easier having a hole in the floor. they aren't really needed otherwise

The drain holes are used during the manufacturing process.
After the body is assembled, it is dunked in a tank of some sort of primer/sealer the size of a swimming pool. We it emerges from this tank, the holes allow all the excess fluid to drain out.
There are also holes at the bottom of the quarter pnls and on the hood.
