Widest rubber you can fit on the back of a 1200 without major surgery is 245 I have fitted 245/60/14's on mine with the flares and a fair amount cut and pumped out on the outside. It is a very close fit about 10mm off the inside and about 2mm in from outside. SLR flares are way to big I have seen RX3 flares (group C) simaller to rx7 ones on a 1200 not too bad a little big if anything.
cheers Andrew

I am in a similar situation at the moment. I have had a chat to Jeff at JTS and he is currently hunting down a set for me. He said that it shouldnt be a problem but he thinks theres only a few sets left. SLR flares are massive for a 1200, but if u can fill em with rubber, go for it! I would be talking to a panel beater first to find out whether its worth mini tub ing it, or just flares.

Out of curiousity, what sort of diff will u be running?? Do u have a big HP engine that requires 305 rubber to transfer the power??

When you talk 305 tires, you are needing to talk tubbing the wheel wells, not just beating them out a little. 305s are bigggggg.

I would like to put flares on my datto, but I have a few problems. One problem is that I don't know whether to get fiberglass bolt on flares, or steel flares. Another problem I face is that I dont know anywhere that I can get pre-built flares (if they are even available!)

As for the Aussie members, remember the big fat flares from the SLR 5000 days? Any thoughts there? Too big?

I would really like to hear some suggestions from other members as to what type and style of gaurd flares I should consider for my road project. Does anyone know where they can be purchased, or even some that I can modify?

The coupe/wagon (haven't made up my mind yet) will be very low, and I will try to fit 205's at the front, and something in the vecinity of 305's at the back. Should I be talking to panel beater?

Eager to hear your responses.
