How big do the tyres have to be on the front?
I have 185 60 14s with absolutely no modification to the arches, and I could comfortably go 195s or maybe even 205s

the 240Z had the R160 diff. this is an IRS unit, not even the same thing. you can put Z car drum brakes on it but your right you will need to use 14 inch wheels. an alternative is out there, I just am not that familiar with what was sold down under. check out the 80-81 Silvia/200SX model S110, don't know about there but here in usa they came with a rear disk brake setup that will virtually bolt up. I'm just not sure that you will be able to run 13 inch wheels with them.

#1 is there a solution?

im half way through putting in my ute diff with plans to put in a set of bluebird disc over drums, then in occurs to me that bluebirds come with 14" wheels standard and now ive been told olny a very select few sets of 13" will fit over these discs, i really want four wheel disc, but cant go to 14" for rallying cause the tyres are too big for the front, i could use 14" on the back and 13" on the front but that would mean carrying two spares (too heavy!), i dont think it would be legal to cut some extra material out of the calipers for clearance especially for rally would it? so i guess only solution is to find a set of 13" that fit right?, which brings me to custom made wheels, would it be possible to get the required wheel made up, which would still have enough strength for rallying and what are the costs involved in getting wheels made up?, a friend once told me superlite wheels can be made up to any offset, size and stud pattern quite cheaply (cant remember how much he said) has anyone had this done?

any other suggestions PLEASE!
its killing me, i just cant put drums on this disc

p.s. in the case that i give up, has any put 240Z drums on a ute diff succesfully before, the 1200 modifications site makes a brief mention but this gives me little confidence, is the 240Z even a H165 diff and does this mater?

p.p.s. is there any other cheap way of getting smaller discs on the back from another car that i dont know about?

cheers fellas
