What about using some kind of torque strap? "Chain" the int/exh side of the motor down. I think that's the correct side. When viewed from the front, the crank goes clock-wise and the block tries to go counter-clock-wise.
right?

as another positive the force put on the engine mounts is huge in a rally car think about it bumps jumps and any other hazard get an engine mount put it in your hand and twist it you will see how soft it is

you would only loose a tiny bit of torque as the mount is initially loaded surely, i would think this is negligible loss and money and time could be better spent

it's probably to stop them breaking,a problem with 1200's with big horsepower motors in them.have you thought of going to a suspension place that makes nolathane bushes with a pair & seeing if they can redo the mounts with the urethane.
