How much does SR 20 Engine Weigh? How much does A14 Engine weigh. Considering installing SR20 in 1200 coupe, but don't want to if it weighs enough to throw of the wieght distribution enought to adversely affect handling.

Been seeing 1200 coupes with SR20 Engines hitting just under 200MPH in the 1/4 mile. The bodies look pretty much stock except for the ginormous drag slicks at the rear.

I would settle for 100 MPH in the quarter! Just want to build a very fast street car.

Not sure on weight but guess no more or less than a L20b.

you will get 100MPH out of a NA SR20 for sure, could easily pull 160KPH in my N14 pulsar.

You can get 100mph out of a stock A14. Just takes a while to get up to speed.

Yes, an SR20 will change the weight distribution.

A14: 93kg
SR20: 139kg

But since likely also be fitting a heavier rear axle assembly, it will even out. Now the car is heavier, but quicker even so. If you can keep the front suspension weight down it will handle well. For example, use S13 brakes on the stock lightweight struts.

Id say pulling an imperial ton (100MPH) with a stock SR20 in the quarter would be a big ask. Those 1200's you've seen would be turbo'ed, with big horsepower. The most an N/A sr20 has got is 300HP in the old 2 litre tourers. BUT, an SR20 on Nitrous would be pretty quick. Can't legally run that on the street, though that doesn't stop some people.

Would it be possible to get a late model Nissan Micra, fit the 1.8 litre motor from a Tiida & then turbocharged it? Your answer must include parts numbers for the conversion. You have 12 months. Commence.

For comparison my old 1200 ute did 99mph on the quarter
with 150hp at wheels (n/a rotor). Id say a mild sr20
could do about the same

I agree that the rear axle should make the difference up as most of them were 100 lbs heavier than the 1200 rear axles and that is the difference in the engine weights.

An sr20 would have to adversely affect handling. Lightweight front suspension will help, fitting a heavy diff will not. An sr20 is a big engine to fit into a 1200.
