I to have been collecting that mag. I love the articles about the old days. Harry Firths admission in the XU1 article about running illegal alloy blocks was a beauty especially when people like Brock and Bond were unaware of all the skullduggery !!!

1200ute8u1, I've heard several things, but the official word is that Holden had a good product, so why not use it? My personal feeling is that US car companies have forgotten what real muscle cars are, they have been so tuned to market studies and profit excercises. They have turned the Mustang into a high-dollar car, forgetting its roots as a sporty version of the Falcon and other mundane platforms as it was 1964-1994 (when it was last based on the Fairmont). The next one is supposed to be based on the Lincoln LS! It may be a nice car when it gets here, but it is far from its roots.
I am totally astounded that Australia never forgot how to make great cars -- and still is making them. Ford Australia is selling OHC Windsors, while we are stuck with comparatively weak 4.6 liter engines.

I think you've got you're quote wrong. That should be FIRST on race day. Unless there's a Datsun with Fanta Injection running against it, of course!
