I remember a couple of people wondering where they can get the twin cam head from because they wanted them for racing. Plz dont ask ME how a twin cam head is adapted to a OHV engine. Anyhow, i found out that Os_Giken manufacture them, i hope you all find this information interesting and perhaps useful.

I would imagine it involves much the same gear as a Toyota 2T which is normally a ohv motor, but also a 8v twin cam in 2TG designation. Just a different timing cover and longer chain. Probably leaves the old camshaft in place just like the 2TG as well, to drive the dissy and fuel pump.

How did you find out? Is it 16 valve? I didn,t even know such a thing existed until I saw THAT photo in the gallery here. Is there a website, or an Aussie distributor? Don't tease us like this! I know I'll never be able to afford one (OS Gikken make a twin cam L series head too - http://www.datrats.com.au/page12.html) but it's nice to dream...

My friend spotted one in an OS Giken catalogue, i have no idea where the catalogue came from. Perhaps look for OS Giken on the web, i tried, but not very hard.
i have no idea how much these are worth, but as they are not a factory produced head i'd say they are about as expensive as the Lz-20 twin cam head. I once heard that it was worth about $7500 or something.

Well here's something that may suprise you. A Mazda B6 DOHC head will actually "bolt up" to an A series block. The only things that would need sorting would be the water and oil galleries. I spoke to an engine reconditioner who reckoned that it would take a bit of time but it could be done. Running the cams would not be a major problem, using a belt would be easier than a chain. It would certainly be a hell of a lot less than $7,500 thats for sure

Food for thought eh?...

Mazda 323 or familia. The B6 (1600 DOHC) came out both naturally aspirated and turboed in the model before the GTX
