Hey guys I'm about to weld up my tailgate and cut off all my gutters but I was wondering if there was a "how to" kind of post already done by a member? I would be very interested to have a read!
Thanks guys I just haven't found anything myself

full welded tailgate looks horrid man, do like what my mate did and remove gutters + remove handles, but have the tailgate work with in internal latch.

looks 100x better imo.

That does look good. I'm building a air bagged show ute atm though. And thought the seamless shaved look would be the best?

have a look at the datsun 1600 [510] sites there is a yellow 510 with gutters removed. You can also read up about how it was done. I know it's not a ute but it's a start with the gutters. I'll see if i can find it again.Best of luck with s/thing different.

in my opinion (just mine though) i can appreciate the work that goes into like full shaved/welded rear ends on 1200 utes, but having a working tailgate shows that effort was put into a) making it look porn and b) still making it work/look like a ute by making up a basic linkage and #OOPS# for the inside of the tailgate..

OK dude i'm no good at the photo thing so you will have to let your fingers do the walking unless s/body can do it but you still want to read about the build. GOOGLE-- modified datsun 510 and then on pg2 towards the bottom you'll see BODY AND PAINT TURBO ROTARY 510. It looks great smooth like custard you just want to eat it [shaved etc] Bet when i said shaved a lot of you were thinking of other things. lol. yeah it's just as nice

That 1600 looks amazing!!! Just the look I'm going for. Seamless and smooth ;)
I've decided to weld her up. Tray lip has been removed as of today. Welding starts this weekend. I'll get the rest of the guttering off tomorrow. Handles are being shaved next week and tail Light slots are being shaved as well. Being replaced with led strip tail lights. Less noticeable on the body.
I will start up a build tread on here so you guys can keep up with the build if you like.
If anyone comes up with a link to a tailgate welding link send it my way! Love to see how other people have done it!

yeah thats the link -- just remember to cut a piece [gutters] and then weld cut and then weld cos you dont want it pulling skew. Read that chaps build and you will see what i mean.He also changed the kink on the fenders doors and rear panel and no side lights --- just a slight bend on the side -- I think it looks great -- suggest you read the build
