if nissan is thinking of a retro concept,id be inclined to say the value of datsuns will go up in the coming years.

as of the brz, imagine of toyota releasing an mk5 supra.
Japan has been ahead of their times. To think the rb26dett was in production cars by 1989 and the 2jzgte by 1991 makes you wonder the engines will see in the next 20 years or so.

any idea of the engine which has been proposed for this idx concept?

well they are going to have to pull their socks up as the 86/brz have already built up enough steam and aftermarket support. The 86 project harnessed incredibly excellent reception from all car enthusiasts from different circles including original 86 die hards, while this Nissan effort hasnt.

Id still prefer something like this with the same money invested as the nismo bre idx effort using a grunter L series from Les Collins.

You have to be on drugs to buy that pulsar coupe from new - Im actually coming round to the IDx more so than the 370z or latest GTR but the only thing I like about the base model is the interior and will not accept 510 but Stanza branding. If it doesnt get the Nismo or Rocket Bunny treatment Id rather buy a US or Japanese restored 510 SSS coupe with BRE specced L18 or Les collins LKA.

except that the 80s pulsar with the similar window shape is about a decade later than the Skyline which Nissan cited as one of their inspirations for the IDx
And let's face it, which is the more likely source of inspiration? An iconic and very popular 70's Skyline with a cult following or an unloved, maligned fwd 80s Pulsar?

sorry meant the rocket bunny version I posted has more of a custom crz feel with all the jagged lines mainly one of the Mugen CRZ versions but now I realise Im clearly wrong looking at the idx from that rear quarter view you posted as the CRZ is not a 3 box design like the idx.

This has been mentioned elsewhere and I agree the rear quarter window is more inspired from the early 80s pulsar cherry coupe

outline of side windows is very much C210. As are the sharp angluar lines used throughout.

I don't see much of the rounded B210 design in it apart from the compact length and upswept ends.

Influence from the bulbous Honda CRZ hatchback require more imagination than I've got!

There is little 510 in the IDX freeflow more of a blend of many things tried from other models similar to the 86/brz mish mash which I also not fond of. Thank goodness there is a body kit that works. The photoshopped rendition is toned down and actually looks like a stanza coupe somewhat an improved effort Nissan should view and absorb.

Although I am bias to Nissan I didnt like the Rocket Bunny look 86 it just too much rice while on this Nissan model it somehow just hits the mark but still its no 510 its more of a beefed 120y mixed with pulsar & honda crz.

The lights on the 86 above is like subaru liberty, the mirrors... someone could go on forever the 86 is also a big dogs breakfast. They both Yota and Nissan really needs an old japanese designers touch more like the designer of the 2000gt or fairlady now those guys knew how to combine borrow from others and pull it off.

Even the intercooler looks like this felon chews on tobacco 24/7, the indicator LEDs are like whiskers, squinting eyes with that menacing smile is freaky.

all of that stuff is just pure Rocket Bunny styling.
