The stumpy puts the gear shift in the stock location. 71-series stumpies came in some Datsun 720 and D21/Navara trucks, and in DR30 Skyline.

There was no stumpy for SR20 engine. Once you obtain the stumpy gearbox, swap the SR front case on to the stumpy gearbox. See Stumpy.

Find yourself a 620 or 720 pickup in the junkyard. Those 71 series will work fine. You'll have work to do though. Increase the size of the tunnel, new tranny mounts and move your shifter back about 5 inches. Shorten your shifter while your at it. Your already going big with the SR20, finish the work with the correct transmission.
I've been there and have done it.

71 series is the one but even the Stumpy or 71C can have trouble with big power or abused boxes and after many breakages peeps seem to go for the rb25det box but very exxy.

Skyline dr30 71b 5speed stumpy or d21 navara 71c 5speeds best bet.

Keep in mind hard to find now in ok condition. Harder when you break one lol.

Sorry guys, whats the difference between a 63a and a 71 series? Is it gear ratios or something like that? A lot of people have told me to go the stumpy due to the length and where the gear stick comes up. What gearbox would you guys suggest for this conversion? Any help would really be appreciated.
