Hi DD

thanks, in that case will not the Solenid work continious after starting the engine also because it has 12V all the time since indirectly it is connected to Ignition Coil + Side

thanks

It is not the case.

As dd said the "start" wire only should have power when the key is in the "start" position and when the engine starts and you return the key to the "on" position you should have power to the "in" terminal of the ballast resistor, it sounds like you only have ignition power when the key is in the "start" position so remove the distributor cap and turn the key to "on" and check for power to the points if there is none then you have a faulty ignition wire or a faulty ignition switch, did this problem start happening all of a sudden or is it after a rebuild

Hi Guys

That is sudden case ,i never had a difficulty to start my b310 like this ,even after 2 weeks it used to start on the first key it never had a similer problem earlier, i have replaced my contact point, rotor, plug wires ,ignition coil, condenser ,it has ignition fuel but doesn't start checked the timing also on order,

i am pissed off ,i am suffering with this issue for 2 weeks now, don't know what else to check now

thanks

From the sound of the video, I would say the starter solenoid is slipping.

Test it by removing starter from the engine. Turn the gear with finger and thumb. It should turn one direction. If it turns both directions, it is bad.

when you try to start it does the engine actually turn over [is the fan going round?] if not then its your starter motor bendix gear slipping, have you tried push starting your car? you could run a wire from your battery + direct to your +coil if it starts then you know that the problem is in the ignition wireing/ign switch

Simplifying it one step more, there are two switches in the ignition switch assembly. there is a run switch which turns on the curent to the ballast resistor which then supplies the coil with its normal voltage, about 9 volts. It comes on when the key is "on". There is also a start switch which is "on" only when the key is twisted a few degrees more. It turns the starting solenoid on and also sends 12 volt power directly to the ignition coil.
When the key is released, the switch is turned off by a spring and no electricity is supplied to the start solenoid or directly to the coil.
It looks as though you are trying to work on it with an incomplete knowlege about how it works. Go to a bookstore and buy a book telling you how a car works. This will save you much time and frusration.

Listen to the video that Sumith posted. You'll hear that is is turning over, is firing, but then the Bendix gear is slipping before it completely starts running.

Hey guys I have a similar issue, have checked the ballast and ignition switch and they seem fine...
Im getting the car ready for road worthy and it was starting fine a few weeks ago.
Had to tidy up wires under dash with zip ties but don't think it could have been that.
Have attached a video of it.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E9cx7q4bn7s
Thought it could just be starter solenoid but its odd that it has happened all of a sudden.

Cheers,
Ben

gor, if the prob started after you tidied up the under dash wires that's the first place to look, you might have pulled a wire of it's terminal
