Hi, I also had an issue with the engine mount and the fuel pump. From memory I cut the stud down as short as possible (the one that hits the fuel pump) and used a lock nut without washers. It's a tight fit but this way you can do away with the electric fuel pump.

I never had issues with fuel pumps in the a15 I had before l16.

As for dizzy I do the same but use a screwdriver to make sure its at tdc.
Found out my Falcon has flat tops from this.
If you get the plug rotor position wrong sometimes easier to just move the leads around on the cap then reinstall dizzy.

Custom mounts are somewhat rare. Can you post photos of the mounts?

I felt an electric fuel pump would be a better option anyway for the twin carbs so it wasn't really an issue. A mate of mine owed me a favour and he had a brand new one in the box so it worked out well.

The engine mounts are home made, not flash manufactured ones. I had to notch a corner of the pass. side mount to make room for the exhaust manifold which runs extremely close to the idler arm mount and the bellhousing. I guess I could be trying to do pics instead of sitting on datsun1200.com ......

@MrSturdee - It's exactly people like you I was hoping to help. Thanks for the reply.

A little different in this photo from the initial post. I put the filter from the A12 back on the rocker cover instead of the pipe venting it to the catch can. Basically it wasn't long enough and ran too close to the throttle linkage.
This is a temporary measure until I get some longer hose.

Looking closely, you can see the hacksaw mods needed to make room for the exhaust.

Yes, I know she needs a paint job, but I just can't justify the money required when it won't make the car go any faster....

The alternative with the crossmember is to get the crossmember from a late 1200 ute that had the 120Y style engine. they line up with the A15 mounts. This swap was first suggested to me by your engine builder's brother.

Datsandy, who lives in your part of NSW, might have one. I seem to remember him advertising one recently. From my experiences, the engine mounts don't last too long due to being offset from the shear force of the motor movement.

As for the paint job, you don't want to scratch good paint while your messing round with the mechanicals. A little bit of camoflage helps at times.

More pics to show how close things are.

I knew about the Ute crossmember but re-doing the engine mount if needed was easier. Tech Wiki is extremely informative if people are willing to look.....

Jeff's brother has worked on cars of mine when he owned his shop in Penrith. I used to drool over his Yellow 1200 Coupe. Such a clean (and quick) car....
