i have just bought a 60L 5 speed dogleg gearbox from the scrapyard and would like to refurbish it before i pull my other one out and replace it (old one making grinding noises and difficult to get in 2nd gear until hot).
Does anyone have a workshop manual for this gearbox that they could email to me ?
i'm hoping that i'll be able to get away with replacing bearings and cleaning.....but never stripped a gearbox before..

The 60L 5-speed is included in the factory service manual "1979 Datsun model series B310"

Hey, it's great idea to shift to a 5-speed gearbox. Be careful while replacing it and if you haven't stripped it ever before you better take it to a auto repair shop because any mistakes will cost you much than that.

Get the b310 sunny manual as suggested. Follow the instructions and you will be fine. Gearboxes are surprisingly straightforward for the mechanically inclined.

thanks for the support, i'm a mechanical engineer by trade so i'm reasonably confidant to give it a go, i'm hoping to just replace bearings and seals....

i have a 60L box in the car now its ok apart from a few things...:
1.sometimes difficult to get into 2nd when cold.
2.rough bearings type noise when engine running and in neutral, noise stops when clutch is pressed.
3,metallic chattering sound when engine breaking, especially in 5th gear.

so my idea is to check over this new box i got last week, replace the bearings/seals, fix any obvious issues such as missing teetch etc and swap them over.

I found a guy in the MG forum who has a copy of the gearbox service manual and he has promised to email it to me.....
