Hi guys im looking at tomie cams for my ca18det,now there are two different types the pon cam which has 256 duration inlet and outlet which is suited to stock turbo size. The other is the pro cam which has 270 inlet and outlet duration but is suited to the mid range turbos,as I will be going a gtx3067 turbo should I go the pro cam?with that duration will it be a pig just cruising? Also ill be putting 84mm pistons and a 87.6mm stroker crank in it which pushes it out to 1942 from 1809.

I'm really not sure but from what you have written, the pro cams sound like the ones u need. Your going to a stroker with one of the biggest turbos in the range with a t2 flange so it's far from standard. Should have some good power by the sound of things

Hydraulic. But you can put solids in.

Tomei ProCam offers hydraulic lifter and solid lifter type camshafts

hydraulic lifter are very good on CA18de/t with good springs 8300rpm is not unusual for these engines. Very similar to suzuki gti twin cam g13b engines most people dont bother with the extra hp from solid and just use better turbo and manifolds.
Ca18det solid gear costs like 1600-1800 including cams and only gains %10 over hydra in the overall scheme of things and going beyond 270 duration for turbo is useless for street driven cars and the 264 to 270 x 8.8mm lift on both sides is more than plenty with boost.

10% is a significant power boost.

Hi guys, does anyone know where in the revs range 270 duration cams will kick in?im thinking that they will be maybe a little lumpy for street duties.Ive been reading and a lot off the drift guys use 260 duration which is stage two,256 duration stage one and 240 standard.Ill be going the garrett gtx3067r turbo which is rated from 270-500hp,ultimatly ill leave the cams up to my engine builder but would just like to learn.

You can rry 2 stock exhaust cams first, easy enough later to upgrade when skills gets better
or you could get a 63 trim for it then upgrade again as skills improve but usually ealier
boosting turbo is way better than late for the street.

eg. stock ca18det

Duration (IN) – 240 degrees

Duration (EX) – 248 degrees

Lift IN (mm) - 7.80

Lift EX (mm) - 8.50

Lobe center angle (IN) – 120 degrees

Lobe center angle (EX) – 120 degrees
