Starting Issue on my B310

Hi Guys
I have a difficulty starting my b310 After about 5 days idle time, when i put a little fuel through the air cleaner lid it starts at once , after starting it can run the whole day or 2 without any issue of starting it again ,but if i try it after 5 6 days i can't start it unless i put a little fuel to the carb ,what would be the issue ? and also after a complete stop i can't pull it without few quick hard padel on the accelarator ,it tends to die if not ,is it related to my carb accelerator circuit or float circuit (Float level is perfect to the exact level when running the engine ) thanks regards sumith

I note two issues in your post.
The first is the starting issue. Most commonly this is caused by fuel leaking out of the float bowl over time. You can verify if that is the cause by looking at the sight glass before starting it. If the bowl is empty then it will not start.

Hi DD
Ok i will check it , If the Fuel Bowl is empty is there a problem with my system ? It should fill after few keys is it ? Do you have an idea why it is hard to pull it after a complete stop, it tries to die,but after quick hard paddles i can get it run so i pulled a spark plug and found it is running little lean so richened the mixture too but it did not solve the issue,it can idles any long unless i try to move it ,i feel my idle rpm is also too low will that cause this issue ? i will make it little up and see whether it will solve the probelm thanks regards sumith

Yes, the fuel bowl is leaking. Tighten the drain plugs. It may take more than a few cranks of the engine to fill the fuel bowl.

Sumith, where are you ? is it a hot place ?
if the car is in the sun and very hot then the fuel can evaporate over time. also when you stop and engine is hot you can get vapour lock caused by the carb absorbing heat from the engine and the fuel boiling... in both these instances it may take you a few cranks to get new fuel through the system if you are using the std mech fuel pump. if you are using an electric pump, give a few seconds between turning on the ignition and actually cranking the engine, you should hear the fuel pump ticking away as it restores the fuel level. i used to have these issues before i put a vent in my bonnet to let the hot air out...

Hi Guys
Thanks, i think i sorted out the issue for Hard acceleration was caused due to broken rubber seal on the accelerator pump ,i cleaned the carb and refixed it and running smooth as usual back so hopefully it may clear the starting issue too thanks regards sumith You can view topic.
