Not wrong about this whole UN globalisation BS, Just how many people know that Australia either assembled or built over seventy different brands of cars in the twentieth century and they all did OK and survived, Most closed down because of issues with overseas parent companies.
Heck we even built more than a dozen different brands of motorcycles,Politicians have a lot to answer for and the way we are going we will have to brew our own fuel at home soon.

Or maybe Wade just wants to retire. Does anyone know the real story?

I worked for Wade Cams many years ago along side Clive[Clive Cams]when George Wade was alive, after his death the company was taken over by a couple of employees and Clive went his own way,its sad to hear of the end of a iconic name that has been a part of Australian motoring history [Wade Cams developed and ground cams for the Repco Brabham engine as well as many other famous racers]

sounds like CEC over here in the west, they did nice cams, tried to sell up, in the end closed down and the gear went to an engine rebuilders, and a shyte job they do indeed from a couple of people i know... the guy used to have something to do with Repco back in the day too so i am led to believe..
sad sad sad, i had the feeling for a while Australia is about to fall in a big hole...

Yep it is. Especially when we can sell off our stuff cheap and unlocl heritage protected forests for logging no one wants really on the market. We are officially back in the 1950's. If we are quick we might be able get to the local for a pot before it shuts. Oh wait they cant afford the penalty rates so went out of business last october.

I work for a certain automotive manufacturer in Australia, and it's cheaper for us to dig our minerals out of the ground, ship it to mexico, make it into engine blocks, ship it back, and for us to do the finishing work. Than it is for us to make it here ourselves. No wonder all of this stuff is closing down.

your not wrong flatto, i used to work for visy and they would buy metal from BHP up north stick it on a ship send it to Indonesia sit it in a Factory for three month and then ship it back and truck it to the plants to be used, they didnt even process the product overseas. it was cheaper than putting it straight on a truck a sending it straight to where it was to be used. I never understood it in detail but it had to do with export and import taxes and such things.

A lot of it probably has to do with red tape, taxes, and all the fat. Industry can't compete when changing bolt A to bolt B means a 20 page report and an safety audit behind it.
