I have noisy lifters in my sr20det since my last oil change. I have run semi-synth penrite 10W 40 last two changes, last time I had to use a fraction of cheap mineral oil to make up the amount.
Should I change to a heavier oil to keep them quiet, or lighter oil so it can penetrate the oiling hole?

10w-40 is good for hydraulic lifters. Why are they noisy? Is the oil galeery blog cked?

As far as I can tell noisy lifters are normal for a 90s turbo nissan. But I can't find clear information on oil choice.

Myself and a few other friends with sr's have been running penrite 10tenths racing 10W40 oil with no issues at all. Good oil pressure and temps from it and by the time of the next change it was still working nicely too
Worth a try
