wow, 2dollars a day?

How many Kms can they go after a full charge?

So are there any disadvantages of electric cars? How are the maintenance costs or cost of replacement parts?

The new porshe 918 converts the energy used while braking to recharge its batteries.Ive also seen the nissan leaf has solar panels on roof spoiler.

This kind of technology might make oil companies very wary in another decade or so.

The calculations and research was done several years ago and at 90% engine efficiency and electricity at 70% at worst with 30% lost in lines the output is still more efficient for electric vehicles. That research was done using coal power and improves CO2 emissions with sustainable power. Nuke plants are the most ineficient as from all the uranium mined only 0.7% is usable or compatible for enriching which is U235 while the 99.3% U238 goes to waste, leaks into the environment as been discovered all over the world now and nothing can be done to stop cheap steel canisters rusting and deteriorating. Gas power makes Electric CO2 friendlier while Wind and Thermal the ultimate clean energy.

I just look at Remote control cars and say why not scale up with better batteries eg: BP, Exxon and other Oil Monopolies have stashed away patents for battery architectures/chemistry that is 100-1000 times better than currently used in the best smart phones!

Toyota won the JTP endurance race almost 4 years ago with a seriously awesome Supra hybrid also so this concept will be interesting to see what it transpires eventually

Couple of people at work have Chevy Volts and they are unable to tell the difference in the hydro bill. If you calculate it out it may take $2 a day if the thing is dead flat. Someone was sending a post around the internet about it being more than gas but if you do the math they had it wron. I'm sure it was an honest mistake.

In okinawa and most charging places its free, Maccas is where one guy I know locally does his and also some supermarkets have free charging while others carpark and hotels mostly have 15a power for cleaning and usually dont mind if they dont see it when its not their cleaning day which is hardly ever as they rarely use the car park socket.

In Okinawa you charge the full load which is 23kw and you go home load up your solar cells then go back and recharge, no cost to house and car energy

Hahaha,
yeh the nissan leaf is 100% percent electric no petrol.
I wonder if the electricity bill will be worth the no petrol in saving costs..unless u charge it somewhere else rather than home lol

after driving a Daggy looking Nissan leaf in Okinawa with some patented sound gizmo, e-hp is the future. It had so many sound choices quite amazing to go from a murcielago v12 or maseratti v12 to a nascar nissan v8 roar. You feel it all with modulated vibration thanks to quality base surround sound its more fun than a normal fossil fueled car & I was a total sceptic initially on sound making a difference. Boy did it convince me!

unfamilia,
watch the reviews including top gears review of the Mclaren P1 and also the Porshe 918 spyder, both hybrids...its the technology of the future.More power less emissions...
Im pretty certain if it ends up being a supra, it will have an engine to back up its legacy
