1979 Ute
Stock A12
Stock 4spd

The vibration is #OOPS#ing ridiculous on start up/ idle. I know alot of cars have this problems but this one is pretty severe. It smooths out perfectly as soon as i hit the throttle.

Suggestions or quick fixes?

NOT common with the A12 engine

Sounds like maybe the engine is missing. Have you changed the carburetor and not adjusted it yet?

Bought the car 3 weeks ago and it came with the problem, Not really much more info to give. Engine bay looks fairly unmolested. 98,XXX km's done. I'm pretty stumped as to what it can be! I've checked all the engine mounts for loose fits and what not, but nothing seems to be out of order. I'll make a video of it and post it so you can get a better idea as to what i'm talking about.

could be just idle speed and mixture,
plugs, points, the list is endless..

The carburetor most likely: needs the idle adjusted
It will run good above idle.

Start by adjusting the idle speed screw to 750 rpm. Then adjust the idle mixture screw for best idle. Reset to 750 rpm. That alone can solve a rough idle.

The 12v solenoid is a good question. It its not connected to 12v the engine will not run under 1500 rpm without the choke on. Either way it doesn't cause vibrations .

Just to clarify: is it more of a vibration or a knocking sound/feel?
