This is what I have started to do so far. Acquired a donor A12 and bought a 1.5 liter Mazda Z-5 head with a single drive pulley DOHC.

Its slow going but I am designing and making things work.

I marked off all the spots to be plugged and to be saved. The potential to modify is marked in Orange.

Are you going to use the D swap kit for Mazda head on A-engine?

No sir. I am engineering my own stuff for this build so I wont be using the D swap kit. I have been reading through the Mazda head swaps posted on the 1200 forums though. Seen some cool builds.

Got my Timing belt drive bits today.

The Mazda crankshaft timing gear ID is 27.051mm The A12 crankshaft drive post is a 28.575mm diameter.

I will be making a 7075 gear with the Mazda profile but a precision bore to match the key seat and crank shaft diameter of the A12 crank.

Same story with the timing pulleys for the camshafts as well. Might as well do away with as much parasitic drag as I can ....
