Hi
Wondering if anyone has done a 910 diff conversion to a 1200 ute ? Or if anyone has any info on the diff, I assume it would be a wider diff ?
And would require all the usal diff mods when converting into the ute.
Any help would be great thanks !

So when you say 'about the same width as the 1200', does it fit straight in or do you still need to get shortened?

I got the info somewhere on this forum from what I read, no shortening required, brakes need to be sorted and axle flanges machined down to remove 6 stud and drill fresh steel for 114.3. Not sure about the springs

The spring perches have to be swapped to the 1200 ones, simply because the original perches are too wide & the centre locating hole is bigger. Thats the hole the bolt head sits into & if its too big, the whole housing will move. A Bluebird (910) housing would be too wide by about 100 mm. The S12 Gazelle housing is narrower than the Bluebird, by about 50 mm.. You could also try for the H190 diff housing out of an A15 powered Vanette, they have either a steel 4.1:1 ratio, or an alloy 4.6:1. Unfortunately they do have the same axle size as the H165, so this is a limit on what you can put in the front.

Thanks !
I'm looking into options on upgrading the diff to a stronger LSD diff to handle a ca18det conversion .... I have a h165 that's not an LSD and don't think it would last very long with a ca18det in front of it running 16 psi ! I haven't looked into h190 much .... But if it has the same axles as a h165 their would be no difference in doing the conversion apart from the LSD ? What about other nissan diffs ? Like the navara ? I'd say it would have to be shortened and converted back to a 4 stud to

I supply H190 LSDs direct from Japan for peeps with sr20det, ca18det, full works L20 and LZ20 big power/tq engines The ones that went into 1200 and old classic fairladys used shortened 114.3mm x 4 stud Bluebird or vanette Diffs. These LSD units are clutch pack (CP) units unlike viscous they are re-buildable when need be. Also most reputable diff places can cut up kevlar composite packs for any CP unit as done for my old Alfa LSD CP units which unlike Nissan were like weak Italian baby wipes.

I've got one of D's H190 LSD's on order, if the bank transfer ever clears. I'm putting it into an S12 Gazelle housing, with a 4.1 ratio from a series 3 bluebird wagon. The difference between the Vanette H190 & the Gazelle H190 is the axle size, with the Gazelle ones being bigger & 29 spline. I think the Gazelle & the Vanette diffs are the same width drum to drum, but mine is going into a Sunny. I don't think they would fit under the back of a 1200 ute. Maybe you could find the H190 rear end from a Datsun 1600, which might fit under the ute rear end with front wheel drive offset wheels, OR flares. I'm sure on of D's centres could be fitted.
