I'm bummed that you're primarily using Facebook when the majority of Datsun 1200 fans are here.

But anyway you are making a good start of your project. Looking forward to more piccies.

If anyone is on facebook i have created a profile for my build and am adding more detailed updates on a more regular basis. So please feel free to add as a friend. Just search Trav's Datto and send me a friend request.

I will still try and add an update with pics every week or so on here too.

Datsunbeginner i am going to go either white or green. I will keep looking for different wheel options. Not set on TRX rims but still not discounting them completely.

Thanks Demacoz.

Cheers
Trav

White, Black, Yellow, Puke green. What's going to be your final colour choice? Nice build so far. Keep posting pics. I also agree with unfamilia - for once. TRX wheels are so 80s. So many other choices, rota, wantanabe, superlites, globes, enkie, ssr mkII, or my favorite Hayashi street. Anything but TRX. And we all know those damn wheel nuts are hens teeth.

Below are pics of firstly how I bought it and now that it is stripped down. I also started removing the front radiator support panel to get at the chassis beam. Going to do the same as demacoz did to Kermit and weld in a replacement beam. Found two really small bits of rust in front of front doors behind the guards on each side but easily fixed. Will try and source a MIG in the next few weeks and start practicing.

Cheers
Trav

Ok so after the car sitting in the garage for the past 6 months i have finally gotten started on it. Have taken out the interior, dash, taken off the doors and guards as well as removed all the glass. Only found 2 more small pieces of rust behind the front guards. Pretty easy to fix. Otherwise looks rust free. Going to start sanding and grinding this weekend top and bottom which hopefully wont reveal any more rust. Will post some more pics up then.

Cheers
Trav

Does anyone know of any good cheap brake specialist in sydney? Need to upgrade the brakes on my ute coz I'm goin to turbo or supercharge the 1400 that's in it and don't think the drum brake will like that very much.

Ok well started pulling more bits out last night and one of the last things was the radiator and.....RUST!!!

Right below the radiator in the front rail, so i am guessing leaky radiator. I know how the cancerous #OOPS# can spread so started poking around the whole rail with a screwdriver and sure enough on the bottom of the rail on the far drivers side is another hole. So obviously the exit point once the first hole had opened up on top.

I will try and get some pics up later today.

When i saw the first hole i thought easy fix, but with the second right on the join with the drivers side rail, it is probably outside my skill level.

Anyone have any idea what its gonna cost me to fix? And should i just have the two holes repaired or would it be easier to remove the whole rail and replace it with a fabricated one?

Cheers
Trav
