Hey all,
Well after spending the last 5 years Dattoless and renovating a house i finally have a new project to work on. In the past i have had a ute, then a wags, then a coupe and even a 120y. Well now i feel as though i have completed the journey with this Sedan.
Found it down past Canberra and i cannot believe how rust free and straight it is. Someone had done a backyard spray job then looks like they had started to prep it for another go when they lost interest. The guy i bought it off said he got it the way it is now from some guy at Yass. So judging by that and how rust free it is i can only assume that its always been a country car. Honestly i have taken every bit of interior and rubber etc out and cannot find one spot of rust, one bit of evidence of rust repairs or bog, nothing. Crazy.
Its only a roller at the moment and the interior is pretty bad but my plans are to prep it up properly and strip it back to bare metal. Spray interior, under wheel arches, engine bay etc myself. Im then going to replace the rear diff with a H165, get the leaf springs reset, rebuild front struts and suspension bits and pieces with s13 adapters, nolathene rubbers, low king springs etc. Then im going to build a classic worked A14/15 with H89 head, cam, twin carbs etc with a 5 speed if i can find one. Aiming for at least 100hp. Then gonna pay to have exterior resprayed white professionally as well as interior all retrimmed to standard in black. Finish it all off with Trx rims and venetians. Really going for the old school modified look.
The plan is to take my time, cut no corners and build it right. Once im done i want to baby the #OOPS# out of it and keep it for 20 years till my son is old enough to respect it and understand how to treat a car and i will make it a family heirloom and give it to him as a gift.
I will keep everyone updated on my progress and im looking forward to getting to know everyone in the community again.
Cheers Trav
