Datopower,
At present, I am outstation and shall be back home soon. I have the experience to fit a 4AG turbo into a Datsun B110 (year1967). Prior to fit it, though it is just a 4AGE engine, it is quite powerful, so the frame where the engine rests, front suspension and other tag welding should be strengthen first to absorb the stress delivered from this 4AG engine! 1) The front 2 set of suspension, arms, absorbers and disc brake can be easily fit with a S14 Nissan siliva or toyota AE86 with minor changes at the stabliser bar, absorber mounting frame and ball joints and steering adjustable rod. 2) Good skill and patience is required to install a C20 Nissan whole set of pneumatic brake pump and frame into the driver side (for Asian-left hand driver car) just over the steering rod. Precision installation is required to get the required angle for the brake to operate well. This purpose of fitting an inside passenger brake pump is not to obstruct the engine to fit in the engine bay. 3) Next, replace your whole rear axil with a AE86 complete set c/w 4.3 or 4.1 LSD gear box. This rear axil should come with disc brake! Try to look for an bigger drive shaft model in preparation for upgrading. 4) The entry for the mid gear box on the B110 should be enlarged a lot more to accommodate the size of the 4AG gear box. This is easy for you to install the engine together with the gearbox in one go and to replace any clutch linning. 5) Adaptor mounting seat for the 4AG to rest on the B110 base is home made. 6) When the engine is installed, now come to the drive shaft installation. Try to use a bigger drive shaft. Lastly is the electrical wiring. The old wiring is removed and the car is to be wholely rewired. For 4AGE engine, you can use back its standard ECU. However I use an aftermarket Microtech ECU. Hint, for the purpose of upgrading to turbo, please replace the 4AGE mid gear box with a 3T gear box (precision matching, cutting and good AL welding are required) If you did not center or match the #T mounting to the 1st first 4AGE mounting. You will have a pain in the neck to feel our gear box is crying or rattling! Sir, It is a great fun to drive a 4AG turbo in a Datsun B110. It is very light and have very good pick-up. So your suspensions work must be very good. Otherwise, the car will move like a snake. I am very luck that my mechanic and I have built the above suspension very good. The car runs very steady from start to 35 psig high boost!. I try to shoot some good photos and e-mail to you on what I have done on 4AG engine conversion to my Datsun B110 car besides from my photos shown in the website: http://www.kaichia.com/features/datsun1200.asp Keep in touch.

I have a 4AGE in my rally car. The basic fitting points are covered in the posting below. You need to start with a RWD 4age if possible....this has the manifolds, water pump, engine mounts etc better suited for mounting in a Datsun. I had to make up both engine mounts and the gearbox mounts. Its all pretty straight forward though and is a very good conversion. At this stage I have been using a naturally aspirated setup which goes really well but the new car I am building up will be a 4AGZE supercharged motor to get some more mid range power. Contact me if you need any more info.
Cheers, Bob

Hey Niscoupe..... Sounds all good mate... Say so are all the engine mounts and all that easy enough to fabricate etc?... Would you know if there would be any dramas getting it ceretified, i wrould really like to have an N/A setup like yourself for road use. What model toyotas do the RWD engines come in... is it like the Celica, Supra ? Can i also use these boxes and diffs too ?? Would i have to make any suspension/brake changes for certification etc... or basic safety ?? Sorry bout having too many questions... And if anyone else can add anything...much apprciated... Cheers

JVML, your web site is very nice. One thing puzzles me though. The B110 was made from 1970 to 1973 (model years 1971, 1972 and 1973). The B10 (Datsun 1000) was made in 1967. Your photos are a B110 though.

The RWD setups came out in import AE86 Sprinters, Levin, Trueno. The front wheel drive motors are ok at a pinch if you don't have to use the standard inlet manifold. If you don't want to use the computer and injection it is quite straight forward to fit twin sidedraughts but you will need to change the distributor...I think a non injected corolla dizzy can be made to fit.
Engine mounts were quite easy to make up. If you're wanting to have it certified then all the welding will have to be done by a certified welder. Brakes and front suspension will have to be uprated. I am using bilstein suspension and 4 pot AP calipers on the front with discs on the rear. I use a pedal box to alter bias from front to back, something that wouldn't be required on a straight out road car. Gearbox is a T50 splitcase which is used normally behind the RWD 4AGE. In the Toyota they use a hydralic clutch but I have adapted mine to use a cable clutch, using the standard Datsun setup. There are many different transplant diff options that people are using in 1200's. There is no way that the standard 1200 diff will cope with the 4AGE. Even a C20 diff would be borderline. Have a look around this site and others and work out what diff ratio you need before deciding which way to go.
