This is the old turbo. It has one of those specially designed oil seal waste gate arrangements, these are supposed to improve turbo response by providing positive sealing around the waste gate surface...

How are you going with the replacement T28 turbo?

Unfortunately not much progress. The T28 I was told was an S15 turbo but when I went to pick it up it was an EBay turbo, but it was for free and should get me on the road. I needed to change the oil feed fitting so waiting for that, then should be good to go. Tailshaft is in as well so small progress in other areas. If I get time next weekend it should be back together.

Finally had time to play Datsuns this afternoon. Got the turbo on and heat wrapped the manifold. Fired it up and could actually get the camera out this time as the oil stayed where it should!! Just had a few bits mocked up like the overflow and the pcv hose to the valve cover and haven't mounted the fans yet. Off now to sort out the alignment and get the exhaust done, then I can post a good old shed skid for ya! Posted the startup on YouTube for those who are interested. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Li5ZtSzTAs

I watched your S13 Strut conversion video again the other day. Look forward to hearing how you go with the alignment and more importantly how it handles on the road.

On the tow truck today out to my brother in law's workshop to have the wheel alignment done and sort out a few bits and pieces using the hoist. Will get the exhaust done whilst we are there.
AFM is no good so will source another one of those and should be good for the first drive by next weekend if all goes to plan! Feeling pretty pumped for the first run.

So... alignment went well. Everything lined up and will play around with it once it hits the road. Sorted camber etc all good!
Got to the point today at least where we could take it for a short spin, I still have no air flow metre so I could only idle it along. Stoked to take it for it's maiden drive, as short and slow as it was! Pretty excited to get to this point after starting the build two and a half years ago.
