What will you be using for a trigger Nick? converted dizzy or trigger wheel etc?

An unmodified distributor can be used as a trigger, with most ECUs. If using the Mitsubishi/Hyundai ECU, then it requires the Mitsu Optical trigger. Which is also in the E15ET distributor. Fits right in the A-series engine.

Thanks David.
Yes I'm such a newbie when it comes to working out what kind of setup to use. I'm looking for something mild daily driver like and some people have said try an edis setup with cop but I don't really know what the advantages disadvantages of the various setups are.

Would this be a decent lift pump? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/FACET-12-V ... in_15&hash=item46332f28ae

What are you using Nick?

No need to get so complicated. Nissan used a single external 45 psi pump, placed back by the fuel tank.

So no need for a surge tank lift and efi pump?

i am doing the same project and have got stuck on the trigger/tdc-Cas sensor. Will the nissan hall sensor type dizzy work with the mitsi ECU? I have pulled out a CAS out of a mitsi, but it looks like a big job to fit into the A15 dizzy. I will post some pics tomorrow of where I'm up to.

Hey zdog I'm planning on using a trigger wheel and coil pack and letting my ecu manage the spark or a cheaper way would be a megajolt jr and same trigger wheel setup

Surge tank is used when the fuel tan is not sufficiently baffled. The 1200 tank has partial baffling, but perhaps if you run the tank low it could uncover the pickup tube on cornering. A carburetor has a built in anti-surge tank (the float bowl) but EFI will stop if the flow stops for a moment. Some guys have successfully run EFI with no surge tank, I'd suggest keeping the tank at least 1/4 full at all times.

To do EFI, no need for a crank trigger or CAS trigger with most ECUs. EFI will work with a standard distributor with ECUs from Haltech, Wolf, Megasquirt, etc. You can have full control over the spark curve, especially if you are turboing the engine, you can do spark retard etc. If you wire your distributor mechanical advance weights, it locks the distributor (no advance) then the ECU can control the advance.

The reason new engines use a hall-effect or VR sensor or CAS sensor is because it is less expensive than a distributor.

MegaJolt is an extra expense as most ECUs which can already do spark control.
