Can an A15 be made into a diesel turbo?

Just wondering if the A15 could be strong enough
to run as a diesel using ARP bits and CA18de rods, custom diesel forged pistons or other diesel slugs, H89 head with filled in Combustions chambers and re-angled valves and longer roller rocker arms. Combined with a nice turbo and good rpm would be different

Anything is possible, but is it a good idea, no.
Look at GM's Olds diesel conversions. They were also a good idea but didn't work too well in the real world. To do it right, it needs to start out being designed and built as diesel. And to add a personal opinion, the A series is a great engine family for a gasoline engine, but I think that if one were able to successfully convert one to run on diesel, the stresses would cause one to self destruct.

Exactly what I was thinking. Remember GM 350 diesel.
Its the reason America dislikes diesel cars http://www.google.com/search?q=gm+350+diesel

D why don't you try gasoline compression ignition? Honda and Toyoda both have them. 14.5 compression is all it takes.

GCI is complicated very finicky ecu required but simple diesel
mech pump setup is definitely more possible. Someone I ran across presented the topic for discussion since they run 14:1 on speedway at over 10,000rpm while Diesel would only be using 6000rpm with 19.5:1 comp on 12psi of boost. Therefore might be withing the strength of the A with some work. This is using a Daihatsu 1.0TD or VW 1.4TD pump running off a Gilmer drive with altenator off a V belt in front of the gilmer drive but the issue will be the Head.

How have other gasoline-engine-converted-to-diesel projects turned out?

Nissan had a crack at the Diesel L-Series.

First of all I'd say take a stock engine, bung some diesel injection on and see if you can get it to start and if it starts see if it'll rev.
In principal it can be done but there's some things to think about. 1-Is to make sure there's enough turbulence to mix the fuel and air 2-Is to get the right spray pattern out of the injector to match the combustion chamber 3-Diesel combustion is slower since the fuel and air are not already mixed, this I think is the limiting factor for rpm. That and how quickly you can squirt it in. 4-Diesel burns at stoichiometric ratio at the surface of the fuel drop 5-Diesel will begin to combust at 200+ deg C, hotter makes combustion more likely and faster, getting it started will be easier with heated injectors and heater intake air (like a hair drier), diesel engines refer to this as a grid heater. Sounds like a fun project.

What would the torque figures for that Diesel L series be, did it say?
