All correct, The datto budget conscious could import a stock 1200 from soufrika, US or even better the Phillipines where there are some incredible 2 door cars Oz didnt get.

There was a startlet I missed out on 1980 model with 4age 20v and everything done to the car with fully adjustable front and rear coil over with 5 linked suspension LSD you name it actually better than the 1200 sedan listed for 25k and sold for 5500aud in the Phillipines.

That rusty 2 door that needs everything done to it perhaps even floors, sills and inner areas that are hard to get to for 5k I wouldnt tough it with a 100ft pole prefer a Fairlady 1600 like listed on gumtree now which has better steel, worth more as a classic not to mention a way better built car and the guy wants about 3-4k for it. Engine is already done just needs paint, chrome and assembly so in the end you have almost same amount spent if not less for a better car.

To save more on paint since Fairlady is rust free can use a Rustoleum roller paint job and never take a likely dodgy paint & panel gamble.

It happens with property and it happens with cars, gem stones, stamps, coins, bottle of wine etc. Lin Fox paid $300K over the reserve price for a GT back around 2007, then everyone wanted $600K+ for a GTHO. Another Bloke went out shortly after and paid $680K then unfortunally had to sell it shortly after and only fetched $330K. It's called impulse buying. Price new 1971: $5300
Value 2007: $683,500
Value 2008: close to $1 million
Value 2010: $331, 000

Well I think 6k is a massive bargain , 8k as it was listed for earlier, was too .
problem is 90% of Datsun owners are tight kents that's why datsuns have always appealed to us all here. They are bang for buck cars that are a pleasure to drive, cheap to run n maintain.
Just look at what a 240k or 240z will chase these days, n really those cars are a lot more common than a datsun 1200 2 door sedan.
If you a serious about datsuns and about restoring older cars like a rare datsun 2 door sedan , first thing u need to do is actually find one! . Coming across a complete one of these wont happen to many times, if ever again.
And People Really cant bitch about ebay tactics as everyone does it thats why clyson knows the story there, if its to expensive for u shut up n don't buy it . Let the bloke get as much as can, as the car deserves it.
Id love to know how many people just on this site have been watching it over the last few weeks just out of interest as u don't see something like that very often, especially in sydney .

Clyson has nailed it I'm afraid, $6k is much more realistic and more than I have in my wallet too!! Bummer would be an awesome project back to original spec with some go fast goodies.

I don't think it will sell off eBay because of what clyson has already stated... It will probably just have to sit on gumtree for a couple weeks till the price drops. But I'd love to get it in my shed but I think it's going to eventually sell for a couple G higher than I'm willing to pay, and it would stop me gathering parts for my project
