smooth case 4 speed wouldn't be too bad with it (unless you like burnouts etc)

did you look at using the standard exhaust manifold? j-pipe style? I'm not a fan of that but it would minimize custom fabrication work

this project is making me think... i was considering how you would seal the stock air box, or if you could run a pipe through the stock air box and just use the stock air box as a dummy cover over that pipe. Also you need the air filter pre-turbo so do you add an extra filter and how do you make that look stock....hmmm ....we will see in time

If Lags was interested would have donated some auto boxes to him,

Many have wondered how to use the 4 speed box from a pintara as
they are the same pattern for the auto bell as the 3 speed.
4 Sp fully manualised should take any power a boostd A can give.

D,as you know I have a couple of autos including a 4 sp. I,d luv a 4 Sp fully manualised. So do I compensate with 4.4 or 4.8 rear end due to the long 1st ?? Or better I stick to Celica box with much sorter 1st gear and run 3.7 or 3.5 ?? Either will take a boosted A-series.

The turbo will be mounted low and rearward, and angle down slightly at the back. It will hide better(for that stealth look) and the tilt down at the rear
Bummer. On a LHD car that's where the steering box is.

Yes, the stock A14/A15 gearbox should hold up fine to an A12 with 12 lb boost.

hopfully will make a good stealthy streater that doesnt blow too many std gearboxes!

Im contemplating a cannon manifold with a pressure box bolted up where the carbs would be.
Which Cannon-brand manifold are you ..thinking of?
* Cannon single DCOE manifold
* Cannon dual DCOE manifold
* Cannon dual-plane DGV downdraft manifold

Cannon sidedraught manifolds are very low profile.
* 821 single DCOE oval port (A14/A15)
* 822 single-DCOE round port A12 (old bolt pattern)
Thickness approximately 2-3/4 inch

Good point DD, re the LHD steering box. I'll see if I can workout if it will clear a LHD.

I was thinking the dual DCOE Manifold. It wouldnt be much work to make me a billet rectangle pressure box or even a rounded log on the CNC that bolts to the cannon.

Does it matter in a LHD if looking to use a non factory manifold eg. Cannon types?
Lags did an reverse donk mount mod for more clearance for his stainless headers
that could be used for more clearance perhaps if thats the case.

Auto 4 spds are cheap & plentiful but I guess thats out of the users interest
and not easy to fit in a 1k. I had a four speed ke25 auto done by previous
owner behind a 7k (a15 like but 1.8L) and just using it manually was amazingly
predicable going around twisties. I do wish I could have done it to a 1k.

Nick for your boosted 1200 wagon I recommend Footscray Auto reco best place for
very good work yet honest and way too cheap! I had a combo of a 4wd vitara box
converted to rwd using a gemini box and total cost was 200 in the end as the
internals were all perfect and they let you know if something needs replacing.
However most Jp autos rarely need anything replaced they are over engineered.

Any inlet manifold will bolt to A12 engine in LHD 1200. The only problem is twin DCOE carbs will hit the brake master cylinder. Twin Hitachis fit.
