i have recently bought some after market gaurds for my car and they seem to have come with complementary dents. Has anyone else had this problem? i was also told that i might need a panel beater to line these up on the car for me, true?

All I can say is just because it is new don't expect it to be perfect!

And because they are not genuine they will require you to fiddle around to fit them and make them line up perfectly!

Yes sometimes they have small dents. So long as they don't look like somebody has run over them, the damage is probably normal.

The taiwanese ones seem to have ripples along the top due to manufacturing process (heat distortion during pressing), small dents here and there, which must be from manufacturing because the guards ship in cardboard protection.

The inner/outer skins aren't always a perfect fit on the bottom, meaning you have to elongate the bottom hole to ensure it fits tight against the body. Some of the early replica guards were too long..now that's a problem..

Come on dude. Be happy you can still get panels. I'm sure there are owners of old toyotas, hondas etc that don't have access to any new panels. They'd be suffering.

It's not too much work to look really good and that smooth rust free panel is niiiice.

Chris.

This is why my 1000 racecar has a full fibreglass front. So I don't have to panic if I bend it.
I will also be making fibreglass guards and bonnet and boot for my 1000 coupe when it gets closer to ready. Might even have a go at making new doors too.
I used to be a fibreglass dude so I should be able to manage it O.K.

Hey, let us know how those panels turn out when you're finished, as I may need to get you to make me a set (maybe, somtime in the distant future ). These would be for my other KB10, not the one in my avatar.

I also need a windscreen, one quarterlight window (can't remember which side), both side windows front and back, and a rear window. I'm not looking to buy right at the moment, I just want to know if these parts are still avalible. This will pretty much determine wether or not I go ahead with this project.

If the last paragraph hasen't confused you, your doing better than me

Chris

Good luck finding the glass...the front screen is still getable..or was. The rest of the side glass you can just get sut by a glass place. Make sure its proper stuff for autos. The rear screen will be tough. You can always get a lexan one formed. Thats what I'd doing for the racecar front one. The guy says he could do the coupe back one if I need it done.
Though I just picked up a spare car recently so I have spare glass for my projects.

There is a place on the net in Baywater Victoria
www.nispares.com.au
And they have 1000 sedan, coupe and wagon side glass and rear glass in stock at the moment. I do remember them showing front glass as avaliable a few weeks ago.

Maybe it might be an idea just to get the glass now while its avaliable!
They have also got many other Datsun parts avaliable so maybe worth a check!

Either way I think this place gets the odd one to wreck every now and then!
